NEWTON MAYFEST VENDOR GUIDELINES 2009
The members of the new Newton Merchants Group appreciate your participation in Newton MayFest. This day of family fun will feature multiple entertainment stages with a wide variety of music plus crafts, artists, and sidewalk sales. We are reviving a tradition of a downtown festival in the heart of Catawba County.
Our application is attached and our intention is to provide a quality event for the public and the vendors. We will want you to come back next year so look forward to be catered too. Although we admittedly got a late start, we have a full radio advertising campaign, newspaper display ads plus good signage to the event. Flyers will be distributed in churches, schools, and inserted in local newspapers. The planners have had many years of planning, organizing and participating in festivals and we look forward to hosting you.
Our guidelines are straightforward. You will provide your own tent, or set-up plus tables and chairs. We provide space and crowd. Please review the application. If you extend beyond the purchased space, you will be charged for extra spots. If your set-up is more than twice as large, you may have to relocate. This festival is not a flea market event. MayFest officials may ask you not to sell some items. Misrepresenting what you offer will be cause for a no refund invitation to leave. We will make every effort to provide advance location information. Upon your arrival a block coordinator will guide you to the correct spot, show you where to park and answer questions.
Please arrive early because all vehicles must be removed from inside the festival streets by 8:30 AM and moved to designated parking areas. The festival goes on rain or shine, no refunds.
No vendor merchandise is allowed on the sidewalks.
If you wish to use a sound system, MayFest will determine the volume.
We expect that you will keep your area clean and all trash is placed in proper containers.
No tear down before 6:00 pm.
If you are the only person at your booth, we will assist with relief time for breaks, food etc. We will not sell merchandise or handle any moneys but will watch your booth. MayFest will not be responsible for anything removed. We are operating on mutual trust by doing this.
Food vendors may be charged for spilled grease that requires clean up by the City of Newton.
The Ramada Inn of Conover at Interstate 40 Exit 128 has a special vendor rate of $ 49.99
double occupancy. Phone 828-465-1100. Refer to Newton MayFest for this rate.
Our plans include 2008 so you will be asked to complete an opinion survey before you leave.
