Connection between nature and artist

My love of "getting dirty" and the physical nature of potting led me to pottery. I have always been
fascinated with the clay medium and forming pieces with my own hands. I love to see the beautiful
way glazes meld together on my stoneware pottery in the high fire gas kiln. The reds, whites,
blues, greens and oranges of nature are shown seasonally and are reflected in my surfaces.
Living on a farm, I am immersed in these colors everyday. I believe that nature and spiritually go
hand in hand as does making pottery. I enjoy making utilitarian pottery! Knowing that someone
is choosing my mug out of all the others to start their day is the highest compliment one can receive. The connection between them, nature and myself cannot be described in words, but must be felt through touch.
